NSW MINISTER'S AWARD FOR EDUCATIONAL ACHIEVEMENT

Nathan Jamieson was one of 39 year 12 students from across NSW who was awarded a NSW Minister's Award for Educational Achievement by Michael-Coutts-Trotter on September 13th at the DET Offices in Bridge St, Sydney. Nathan will complete his Higher School Certificate studies in 2010. Nathan is an exemplary student in a number of areas – academics, student leadership, public speaking, cultural activities and community involvement. In addition, he is highly regarded by his peers both inside the classroom and in wider school activities. All staff find him an extremely personable, reliable and conscientious young man.

 

Academic - 2010 - placed first in all the HSC subjects he has studied

 

Cultural and Sport - 2009 - Lion's Youth of the Year – Inverell, zone and regional winner, district finalist, Member of Inverell High School ‘Envirothon' team – winners of communication section, Inverell High School hockey team.  2010 - National Youth Science Forum, Inverell Shire Council Young Citizen of the Year, Major role in school musical, ‘Footloose',  One of six students in Australia selected to attend International Youth Science Forum in Italy June-July 2010 and Leadership Camp for National Youth Science Forum 2011

 

Leadership - 2009/10 Student Council Representative President and School Captain, 2009 Peer Support Leader, 2009/10 – Parents & Community Meetings Student Liaison, 2011 – Selected to apply for position of student staff member for National Youth Science Forum

 

Community Involvement - 2009   Assisted in school fundraising for Rotary Shelter Box, Red Shield Door Knock Appeal, Guest Speaker Probus meeting, 2009 Sold Legacy badges, 2010 Inverell Rotary Guest Speaker Anzac Day Ceremony

 

Public Speaking - Special Award- Inverell East Rotary Club Public Speaking Year 11,  Year 11 Rotary Public Speaking – school, club and zone winner, district finalist, Inverell High School Premier's Debating Challenge Team Captain, Model United Nations Assembly Inverell High School representative, Year 12 Inverell High School, Club and Zone winner Rotary Public Speaking District finalist.
