Visual Art
At Inverell High School we offer a wide variety of courses in the Visual Art department, including, Multimedia , Ceramics, Painting, Drawing and Sculpture.
Stages 4 and 5
In Years 7 and 8 the students study the mandatory course which gives them a taste of the elective courses offered in Yrs. 9 and 10. Each student's skills are valued and developed to a point that allows them in Term 4 to create a body of work that is used for their Authenic Assessment.
In the elective courses the students study a variety of artmaking practices to give them the experiences required for the senior years, 11 and 12. We have found that the elective years are formative years regardless of whether the students continue on with art or choose other associated curriculum areas.
Facilities
Our facilities include 3 classrooms, and a combined ceramics room and wet area. The seniors are encouraged to work in their studio space. We are planning a new art complex which will stand alone and provide a purpose built area strictly for the Arts.
Extra-curricular opportunities
The Visual Arts staff run extra curricular classes in the junior years during lunch for individual students to further express their creative responses. In the senior years, after school classes are run to allow the maximum amount of time for the completion and resolution of their Body of Work.
Excursions are offered to each year group throughout the school terms.
