2. School Certificate Assessment
- The School Certificate Grading System is concerned with describing your achievement in Geography at the completion of your Year 10 course. The level of achievement will be based on :-
- School based assessment tasks
- Course Performance Descriptors
- Trial School Certificate Test
- The grades A, B, C, D and E summarise your level of achievement. The grades range from Excellent Achievement (Grade A ) to Elementary Achievement ( Grade E )
- Your Geography teacher will award you a grade based on your achievement of the Geography Course Performance Descriptors which were issued to you in Term 1.
- Your performance on the following tasks will be used to determine your grade in Geography.

4. Outcomes.
Students will work towards the following nine (9) stage 5 outcomes when studying the two year 10 units.
- Identifies, gathers and evaluates geographical information.
- Analyses, organises and synthesises geographical information.
- Selects and uses appropriate written, oral and graphic forms to communicate geographical information.
- Demonstrates a sense of place about Australian environments.
- Explains the geographical processes that form and transform Australian Environments.
- Analyses the impact of different perspectives o geographical issues at local, national and global scales.
- Explains Australia's links with other countries and its role in the global community.
- Accounts for differences within and between Australian communities.
- Applies geographical knowledge, understanding and skills to demonstrate active and informed citizenship.
5. Helpful Advice
- Year 10 is an important year so do not waste your time and that of other students by being disruptive or lazy
- Plan and research all tasks early and utilise all known resources at home, school and in the community
- Always hand assessment tasks in on time.
- Set yourself a high work standard. All work handed in for marking should be the best that you can do.
- Communicate with your teacher and seek guidance if required. Remember the teacher is always there to help you.
- Effectively utilise your diaries at all times by bringing them to class every lesson.
- Be positive and productive in everything that you do.
- Enjoy the school year by participating in the many school activities offered at Bathurst High School and in particular the Social Sciences Department
