Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE)
The Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) faculty at Inverell High School offers several courses including the mandatory Year 7 - 10 PDHPE course which examines a range of issues including relationships, self-improvement, discrimination, drug issues, physical activity and movement skills, to name a few.
Stage 5
Students are also able to specialise in Physical Education by selecting the elective Physical Activity and Sport Studies (PASS) course in Year 9 & 10. Areas of study include:
- anatomy
- recreation
- fitness
- human movement
- coaching and
- issues in sport.
Stage 6
PDHPE can also be studied in Stage 6 (Year 11 & 12) with two courses being offered:
- The 2 Unit PDHPE course which include the following areas of study:
Preliminary
- Meanings Of Health
- Better Health For Individual
- The Body In Motion
and options such as first aid, fitness choices and outdoor recreation.
HSC
- Health Priorities in Australia
- Factors Affecting Performance
and options such as sports medicine, improving performance and sports and physical activity in Australian society.
- A Board of Studies content endorsed course in Sport, Lifestlye and Recreation (SLR) which is a more practical based course involving modules such as:
- first aid and sports injuries
- games and sports applications
- aquatics
- social perspectives of games and sport.
