Drama

Drama is a stand-alone elective that is offered to students in Years 9-12. Drama is a very popular elective choice at Inverell High, both in the junior and senior school.
In drama, students develop their skills in a range of areas including performance, playbuilding and the tools of production.

Productions

Inverell High presents a major production every two years and a year 11 play in alternate years. In 2008 we produced Fiddler on the Roof, which was a great success.

Stage 5

Students in Year 9 Drama study Mime, Melodrama, Improvisation, Comedia dell 'Arte, playbuilding and costume design. Year 10 Drama begins with the study of the history of theatre, that is Ancient Greek Theatre, Theatre in Medieval England and Shakespeare's Theatre. This is followed by a study of Comedy in its various forms, playbuilding and set design.

Stage 6

Preliminary Drama focuses on the theories of theatre in the Twentieth Century, playbuilding and performance. The HSC course applies these theories in the study of Contemporary Australian Drama and Epic Theatre. Students can choose from a range of Individual Projects, including set, costume, lighting or promotional design, performance, script writing, video drama or Director's folio for the practical component of the course. Everyone taking the HSC course works in collaboration with other students to devise a Group Performance.
